Marine habitat degradation, especially of nursery habitats, can lead to drastic ecological changes in marine systems.  My research examines the effects of habitat degradation on ecological processes, and whether habitat restoration is effective in reversing the impacts of habitat degradation.

Furthermore, measuring habitat quality and the efficacy of restoration is difficult. My research integrates technology with ecology to develop novel methods to answer ecologically relevant questions and to help decrease the cost and labor of ecological surveys to measure habitat sharacteristics.
